New logo, website, team and vision for CYM
Ipswich based Christian Youth Ministries (CYM) has launched a new logo and vision statement in parallel with the start of new Formation Team members
CYM’s CEO, Bob Molton, said “We want to continue sharing with you what we started at the AGM …. about a new chapter in the life of CYM.”
‘CYM exists to engage, empower and enable children and young people to see God’s Kingdom lived out and, as a result, see lives transformed’
“That’s what we’re about. The next step of the venture is to sharpen the cutting edge of the work we do, to be more missional in what we’re about and to reach out in partnership with local churches to the children and young people in communities where we’ve had little involvement in the past.”
A New Formation Team
Alongside the new vision, CYM have a new training team to learn new skills and support the work. There are two new 1st Year Gap students and two interns returning form last year. Also Amy starts her final year as the student youthworker, and Jeni as the student children’s worker.
Here is what they have to say:-
Hi I'm Lizzie and have just completed A Levels in psychology, history and RE. I have joined CYM to be able to give back something of what I experienced as a young person and am waiting to see what God has planned for me for the future. I have a passion for working with young people and am especially looking forward to working at CYM Sizewell weekends. I enjoy music and play the flute.
Hi I'm Matt and I've also just completed my A levels. I've been attending CYM events since I was 13 and St Matthew's Church since I was a baby. I've joined the gap year as I believe that God has called me into youthwork and it will be a great year to not only gain more experience but also grow in who I am in God. I enjoy playing the guitar and leading worship.
Jeni has joined us as the student children's worker. Jeni and her husband Dan have just moved to Ipswich and she is in her second year at Oasis college studying for a degree in Children's Work and Ministry. Jeni has a massive heart for reaching children with the message of Jesus and has plenty of experience in working with children to enable them to discover God's love for themselves. Jeni is going to be exploring new opportunities amongst children and local schools and churches.
Amy is now in her final year studying for a degree in Youth and Community work. Amy has really flourished and grown over the last two years. The work of ‘eight'has really grown through her passion and commitment to reaching young people and this year she will be exploring new opportunities for working with young people in their local communities.
Last year’s students come back
Having enjoyed their first year so much John and Jonny have decided to stay. Jonny will be specialising in Primary Schools work and African Adventure, as he hopes to train as a primary school teacher after his 2nd year with CYM. Josh has a real passion for working with young people and will be helping with the Secondary Schools work and leading the drop-in.
The year will be a time for them to explore their calling and gain more experience and qualifications in their specific areas.
