Community Event raises money for Christian Aid

image16
Many churches in Ipswich are involved in raising money for Christian Aid - often through door-to-door collecting, but sometimes through more innovative ways.

Over the last few years, St Matthew’s church has held a Community Activity Event each May, raising money for the charity.  They have invited local residents, school children and parishioners to join the congregation in having fun together whilst raising money for other communities far from home.

Local organiser, Imogen Catchpole said “We give something, as the church, to our local community, and hope that they find us friendly and welcoming - from a hot cup of tea and a chat to a jump on the bouncy castle, a go on the car tracks race, making a craft, browsing the toys and books or exploring with the treasure hunt. We try to include different elements from our local community to be a part of the event.”

This year the event will take place on Saturday 21st May, 11am-2pm in St Matthew’s Church and School, Portman Road, Ipswich. All are welcome to come along.
