Ipswich schoolchildren send banner to Kenya
For some years there has been a link between the children of St Matthews School in Ipswich and the Kajiado Children’s Home in Kenya.
During the last term, young people in the SALT group (serving and learning together) at the school have been making a colourful banner for Kajiado. This banner will soon be taken to Kenya and be displayed in the chapel at the children’s home.
The photo shows SALT Group teacher, Elaine Coltham, and members of the group presenting the banner to Marian Rushbrook, on the right, who will present it to the children in Kenya.
The children’s home was built in 1997. It started with seventeen children, and today the supporting charity cares for over eighty. Twenty-one new orphaned children have recently been taken in.
The charity is a joint venture between committees here in England and the USA, with help from an Australian youth organisation and the Kenyans themselves. UK administration is based in Ipswich.
