Local Singer starts own Record Label

danielSuffolk mortgage adviser, Daniel Joseph,is hoping his first album, released on his own record label, will inspire others.

"That's my dream, to be able to empower people to achieve things that make them happy," said Daniel Joseph. It's hard to get deals nowadays, sometimes you just have to have your own label."

A New Day has been published by Great Faith Records, which aims to "touch people, and keep people going, even in the face of adversity".

Daniel works as a mortgage adviser at a high street bank, and moved to Suffolk after living in New York, studying and then working as a stock broker. Born in London to Nigerian parents, he also lived in Nigeria before moving back to the UK to continue his education. While studying for his master's degree at the University of Surrey, he worked as a London taxi driver to help pay for his tuition fees.

"I believe what I have seen in life can help other people," said Daniel.
"My vision is to be able to write positive things to people, put positive messages out there through music. Life is about finding what you are passionate about."

Brush with a popstar

Daniel's musical interest was sparked by singing alongside a former number one artist. "I sang in a church choir with Natasha Bedingfield in the past," said Daniel.
"I learnt a lot, and members of the church were writing songs for us to sing, so I just starting thinking 'oh, I want to write my own songs'. You just want to believe you can do it, there's that voice inside of you. The major excitement was when I recorded the first song, I felt 'my goodness, I can really do this'."

Christian confidence

But ahead of his brush with Ms Bedingfield, Daniel says his faith provides his key motivation. "My faith has inspired me a hundred percent," he said. "That gives me the confidence to believe I can do what ever I set my mind to. With my faith I can do anything, but my music is my passion. When you are in the writing mood, you are very observant. The songs are very personal, things I was dealing with at the time. I've got loads of other songs I haven't recorded yet."
