Christian Aid Organisation Visits Link

A guest speaker from Ipswich based charity ‘Support for World in Need’ was at Link on Monday 24 May to talk about their work around the world, and to promote a sponsored walk in aid of a church school in Ghana which is in urgent need of funds.Ghana01

Charity trustee and Link regular, Cathy Gitzer, described conditions at the St Martin de Pores School in the Bolgatanga District of Ghana - “Ninety children are currently being taught in an empty building without any desks, benches, writing slates or reading materials. The children receive their lessons while sitting on the floor of the school and writing on the ground with chalk.”

Following an appeal by one of the Ghanaian churches, Support for World in Need has arranged a sponsored walk through the Suffolk countryside in an attempt to raise £2000. The walk will start at 10am at the top of Chelsworth Avenue in Westerfield on Saturday 5 June, and will continue for 8.5 miles through Witnesham and Tuddenham St Martin, before returning to Westerfield and a well-earned break.
