Gap Year for Young Adults
FORM WOODBRIDGE is a gap year for young adults (18-30), designed to help them discover what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century.
The year, which is run in conjunction with St John’s church, Woodbridge, aims to develop character and skills through a variety of experiences and teaching. However, Mission and outreach are at the core and there is an opportunity to travel abroad, as well as to get involved in local events.
Two full days of training a week are provided, together with weekend retreats, various Christian events and a Mission Trip. Normally the student will have a part-time job for the remainder of the week. This is a key part to the training and enables the students to support themselves financially.
FORM Team Leader, Tracey Fearn, says “If you’re interested in becoming a disciple of Jesus; if you want to see your life change through teaching, acts of service and mission, and if you’re up for a challenge, then you should be considering this gap year for God. It’s ideal for those finishing University, A Levels or if you’re between 18 and 30 years old.”
Some recent quotes:-
" Form seems to me to be a great way of gaining practical experience in ministry and excellent teaching" - Steven Croft (Bishop of Sheffield
"FORM is one of the very best processes for empowering young people in their discipleship of Jesus" - Mike Breen (Author and Director of 3D Ministries)
FORM Student, Lizzy Plummer, said “I was privileged to go to Uganda for 12 days on mission. I absolutely loved it! We joined with St John's, Kamwokya going out on door-to-door evangelism. This involved speaking to people on the streets, in business', and in the slums about Jesus.
I found this really challenging, but knew that God's strength was with us all. I loved doing the school assemblies with the kids. We taught them some songs- mainly 'Jesus' love is very wonderful' and 'Our God is a great big God' OLD SCHOOL! They loved it though. We also did a drama sketch of Zacchaeus, which got funnier every time we did it, mainly because of our acting skills, but the kids found it hilarious.”
