Parish Council Supports Talitha Koum Project

At a meeting on 10 May, the Witnesham Parish Planning Committee discussed the Talitha Koum project plans and decided to support the Planning Application.

Part of the planning process is to give the local Parish Council an opportunity to see if the application suits the local village. After several consultation meetings, the proposal was discussed on Monday 10th May 2010 by the Parish Planning Committee, and the parish planning councillors decided in favour of the application.

John Cobbold, Talitha Koum’s CEO, said ‘this is great news and we now proceed to the next stage of the planning process at Suffolk Coastal District Council in early July. We really appreciate all the prayer and support we have received for this project; thank you.’

Peter Matthews, Chair of the Trustees, said ’we were very impressed by the professional way in which the Chair and members of the parish council conducted the meeting to discuss our application.  There were many questions and comments from over 100 people in a meeting that lasted for 2 hours. The Talitha Koum team is grateful to everyone who has volunteered and supported the project.’

Leaders Lunch & Celebration
On Friday the 18th June, Talitha Koum is holding an event for all church leaders in Ipswich & district. Invitations are going out at the present time inviting people to a lunch at Hope Church @ 12.00 noon, when the new booklet giving the ‘hopes & dreams’ of Talitha Koum will be launched.

In the evening there will be a celebration which is open to all. Abi Beaton will be performing some of her own songs with the Talitha Koum Band, and Chairman Peter Matthews will be speaking – you might like to make a diary note of this date!

This is excellent news, especially in the light of the recent news in Bradford. There is a crying need for such projects to be rolled out across the country to give hope to these young girls.
We should be so proud and humbled by Talitha Koum for all that it is working for.
