Latest News of the Talitha Koum Project
Much has been happening as this project gets under way. Peter Matthews and John Cobbold share their latest news.
Meeting with the Planners – 5 March
Peter Matthews (Chair), John Cobbold (Chief Executive) and the Architects had a very good meeting with a senior planner at Suffolk Coastal District Council on 5 March. Although the proposal does not fall in line completely with the Council's Planning Policies, the objectives and reasons behind the Talitha Koum project were very well received. It appears that a planning application will receive careful consideration.
The next stage is for the Architects to submit a description of the proposed scheme, and SCDC will then respond with the requirement for the planning application to be submitted and considered. The Architects are going to give this priority.
Peter Matthews writes “Thank you so much for your prayers; we definitely felt the power of prayer at the meeting and we were very pleased with the response we had from the senior planning officer."
Coffee and Cakes event – 25 February
The coffee & cakes event at St Luke’s Church was a great success with over 85 people attending. The main aim was to keep people informed on the progress of the project and for volunteers to have the opportunity to sign up to the project. After prayer the architect made a presentation showing the layout for the project. There were information desks on Prayer, Volunteering, The 21st Century Smallholding, Finance and fund- raising
John Cobbold writes “We were pleased with the amount of support we received and the numbers of volunteers wishing to sign up to the project. We are working in partnership with many other organisations in Ipswich, as we believe that partnership is the best use of resources. I would like to thank all who attended, those who took part and all who provided the delicious cakes.”
