Walk of Witness in Ipswich Town Centre
As in recent years, a Walk of Witness through the centre of Ipswich is planned for Good Friday 2010. Organised by town centre churches this will take place on April 2nd.
Detailed arrangements are still in preparation, but the walk will start from Christchurch, Tacket Street at 10.30 a.m. and finish outside the Ipswich Information Centre in St Stephen’s Lane at about 11.30. The walk is organised by the Ipswich town centre churches, representing a number of denominations, but is open to all.
The plan is to stop at six or seven points en route for various short presentations to passers by. Current thinking is that these may include songs, Bible reading, or a short drama or message, but other ideas for effective presentations are welcome.
Over the last two years, an increasing number of Christians have joined this walk and the aim of the organisers is to present a witness to the shoppers of Ipswich that is both up to date and meaningful.
Timetable
10.30 am : Leave Christ Church, Tacket Street then via Cox Lane - Carr Street - Tavern Street - Westgate Street - back to Cornhill - Buttermarket - finishing at St. Stephen’s Church (11.30 am approx.)
This will be a silent witness: stops will be made along the route for Passion readings, hymns, a talk and prayer.
