Tearfund organises special events in Ipswich
Ipswich Tearfund supporters are organising two events in the area over the coming months to help support this relief work by finance and prayer.
Tearfund Prayer Group - February
The first takes place on 26th February, 2010, when Geoff Spiller will talk about his work with Mission Direct in Zambia. Geoff spent 6 months in the country, organising arrangements and welcome for teams of volunteers from the UK.
The teams' main task was to build some new classrooms for a school in Lusaka, but they also spent time with street children, visited a children's home and poor families suffering with TB and HIV. The picture shows children at the newly-built classrooms at Kiine School, Lusaka'
Val Dufour will also share about her visit to Uganda and give updates on Tearfund's Disaster Teams in Darfur, Haiti and Zimbabwe.
At the end of November 2009 she visited South-West Uganda to learn more about the work of Tearfund's partner, the Diocese of Kigezi. She visited several poor rural communities where the Diocese has a well developed programme for providing clean water and sanitation, and spent time with villagers benefiting from these schemes and with those suffering from HIV. The picture shows A lady collecting water from a protected tap in the Diocese of Kigezi, Uganda
This event is organised by the Tearfund Prayer Group and will be held at Rushmere Baptist Church, The Street, Rushmere St Andrew 7.30 p.m.
