Name change for Ipswich church
Orwell Church on Fore Hamlet in Ipswich is changing its name to Hope Church Ipswich as from Sunday 24 January 2010. This will be followed by a more public launch in March with a fun-day for the Waterfront community.
Church Leader, Steve Jay, writes “Known until now as ‘Orwell Church’, Hope Church Ipswich is an established, growing and dynamic church that wants to respond to the challenge of serving the community in the context of a diverse and growing area around the new Waterfront development.”
Orwell Church moved to the Orwell Centre on Fore Hamlet ten years ago, before the regeneration of Ipswich’s Waterfront and the nearby UCS building.
The church serves the community around them with Parent & Toddler groups running through the week, an over 60’s club, children and youth groups, parenting courses and many other events. In helping to support the local community, they also work with UCS, the business community and the Waterfront Action Group, along with other Churches in the area.
Steve says “We have a message of hope, life and purpose; and we want this message of Hope to be clearly communicated – so we have a new name: Hope Church Ipswich. “
The church wants to make this a special occasion, and would love to have as many people as possible come along and help celebrate the name change. You are invited to the name change party, starting at 10.30am on 24th January 2010 at the Orwell Centre.
