Large Crowd at “Crown Him”

The annual “Crown Him with Many Crowns” event, held this year at Burlington Baptist Church on Saturday 16th January, attracted a large crowd of Christians from many local churches to hear about the work of Heart for Ipswich linked organisations over the last 12 months.

A special video, prepared for the night, showed how real and very encouraging progress had been made in 2009. It highlighted eleven cross-church projects and showed how these had been reaching out to the people of Ipswich, meeting both social and spiritual needs. The video* can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVaHpHwTsew (See below for comments on use in churches).

The speaker, Rev. George Miller, from Reconciliation Ministries International, said that Christians throughout the country were praying for 40 towns in the UK which are involved in Project 40 – one of which is Ipswich. He said that there were two key factors needed for a move of the Holy Spirit here in 2010 – a real spirit of unity between the churches, and regular and genuine prayer.

A number of Christian projects and organisations also arranged displays in the hall area and brought literature for those who wanted to know more

The evening concluded with all joining in a declaration of their commitment to work together to serve God and the town, and a prayer to ask for God’s help in doing this:-

Declaration

You are the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. We declare Your sovereignty over our lives, over Your church and over this town.

Lord, we believe that You have appointed us to be Your people here in Ipswich in these days, for such a time as this. We receive Your truth in our lives.

We declare that there is one church in Ipswich and we are a part of it. We belong to You, O Lord. We believe that You have anointed Your church to be good news in this place.

Therefore, we declare healing to the sick, sight to the blind and release to the captives. We speak salvation over this town and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.

Prayer

We know that You love the church and we look to You to show us how to love the church in the same way. May we speak well of her, forgive us when we grumble and complain. May Your church awake, arise and advance into all You have prepared for this year, the year of Your favour.

Lord, may we know that the boundaries of Your church are not at the edge of a parish, or marked on a map, but they are found in the hearts of men and women. Lord, may we put no boundary upon You in our lives but be willing to let You reign.

Lord, may we hear Your song over this town that we may sing it out so that You will bring about release for the captives.

Note on the Heart for Ipswich video*:

A video file for this is available for downloading from the Video section of this site and is a full quality version (60 MB – very large), suitable for showing in churches. The You Tube version mentioned above is much smaller, but would not look nearly so good on a large screen.

Wow, what an inspiring video. It is so encouraging to see what God has been doing in Ipswich in the last year. Prayer works!
