CYM Gap Year Team start work
Four Gap Year students (interns) have recently signed on for the next academic year at CYM (Ipswich Christian Youth Ministres). They will be involved in all aspects of CYM’s work with children and young people, whilst at the same time taking part in a specially designed discipleship and training programme.
This term they will be focusing their studies on Acts and Deuteronomy, exploring the “missional basis of the Bible” and learning about young people’s culture.
The new team introduce themselves:-
Hi, my name is Emma and I’ve just finished my A levels at Northgate sixth form. I attend Bethesda Baptist Church in Ipswich. I have grown up with CYM and am really excited to be part of the Formation Internship Team. I hope that whilst taking part in the internship I will be able to use my gifts and talents to serve God. I enjoy photography and spending time with friends and family and keeping the boys in order in the intern office! and I’ve just finished my A levels at Northgate sixth form.
I’m Mike and I’ve just moved back to Ipswich after completing a degree in Geography at Loughborough University and attend Rushmere Christian Fellowship. The CYM internship has come out of the blue for me as I thought I would be going into teaching. God clearly has other plans. I love sport and working with children and young people. One of the things I’m most looking forward to is African Adventure.
My name is Duncan. I’ve just completed a Degree in Sports Studies at Edge Hill University, near Liverpool. I attend Park View Chapel, Botesdale. I’ve come to CYM to learn new skills, meet new people and to face new challenges and to discover what God has planned for me. I have previously been involved with children’s and youth work including Sizewell camps as well as the odd over 50’s week!.
Hi I’m Darrell, I attend Ipswich International church (elim). I’ve just finished a course studying music at Suffolk New College. I have been involved with CYM on the platform team for a couple of years. I am extra happy to be on the CYM Intern training course. I play guitar and love sports. I am very passionate about reaching young people and look forward to learning about myself and young people during my year at CYM.
In addition to the Gap Year team, a new student from the Centre for Youth Ministry (the other CYM!) will start a placement with Ipswich CYM for a period of three years.:-
I’m Amy. My background has been in healthcare and I have been involved from an early age with youth work, helping at various CYM events. I have joined CYM as a trainee youth worker while studying for a degree at CYM, Cambridge. I attend Rushmere Christian Fellowship. With Ian France as an uncle I have a similar sense of humour and what a joy it is to work with him and the rest of the CYM team. CYM has had a huge impact on me personally and it is a great privilege to have the opportunity to give back to something that is so close to my heart.
