Kagera choosen for support by new fund

Suffolk's link diocese of Kagera in Tanzania is one of three areas that a new Church of England campaign will be supporting. The Climate Justice Fund has been launched by the Church of England's National Environment Fund in partnership with Tearfund.

The web based resource enables individuals and parishes to calculate their carbon footprint and pay compensation for anything over their share. The money accrued will then be used to finance three Anglican Church projects located in the developing world.

"It's wonderful news that Kagera will be supported by the Climate Justice Fund," says Sue Young of the World Mission Group. "The rainy season is starting later and bringing less rainfall. The diocese in Tanzania is helping communities build their resilience to climate change through projects such as tree and fruit nurseries, coffee and cash crops and sustainable farming techniques."
