Church bids to run new school in Felixstowe

CoverFelixstowe
The Church of England is one of three organisations bidding to run the new secondary school in Felixstowe. Expected to open in September 2013 the new school will provide education for 1,800 students aged 11-19.

The Church has proposed that the new school should be an Academy, however, the situation in the town may not meet the Government's criteria and consequently a proposal for a Voluntary Aided School has also been submitted.

John Cox, the Diocesan Director of Education, made a presentation of the bids at a public meeting on Monday 29 June. Copies of the full documents and the executive summaries are available at the bottom of the Schools pages of the diocesan website. (Misssion > Education > School)

There is now a period to the end of July for public response to the proposals. Copies of the summary of all proposals and the response forms can also be downloaded on the school's web page.

Please do take this opportunity to support the Board's proposal for a Church School in Felixstowe. The County Council Cabinet will make its decision in September.
