A message from Stephen Gaukroger
Stephen Gaukroger, main speaker at the ‘Passion for Life’ mission in Ipswich next year, has sent a message to Christians in the area.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be coming to the Ipswich area for the Passion for Life mission in March 2010. These are exciting times to be telling people the good news about Jesus, but there is a sense in which the church has lost its confidence in the gospel. The truth is, I was meditating recently on Romans 1:16 – “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation.”
Many of us have lost our nerve – is the gospel really able to be effective in our postmodern, sophisticated society? I’m sure the answer is yes, and in the Passion for Life mission I’m praying [people in this area] will have their consciousness of God raised; their understanding of who Jesus is expanded, and that there will be opportunities to challenge people to look again at their lives – to see what the purpose of it is, and to come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
I’m glad that we’re doing this mission because I have confidence that when the gospel of Jesus is proclaimed in a simple and clear and Spirit-inspired way people respond to the truth of the Bible.
March of next year seems a long way away, but there’s quite a bit we can be doing now to get ready for it:
- We can plan to be there – a full venue speaks volumes to a visitor
- We can plan to invite others
- We can pray, for without the Holy Spirit any presentation isn’t going to get very far unless the Holy God we love and serve is doing his work in people’s lives. So please join me as I pray, so that together our prayers will soak this area and we’ll see wonderful fruit for the glory of God in 2010.”
Stephen Gaukroger will be visiting Ipswich on Thursday 8th October in preparation for the mission. There will be an envisioning event for all at 7.30pm, St. John the Baptist Church, Cauldwell Hall Road, Ipswich. There will also be a Church leaders' lunch with Stephen at 12.30pm, Cauldwell Hall Road Baptist Church
