All Aboard at Junior Sizewell!

With a full crew, the Disciples of the Galilean sailed off to the May and June CYM Junior Sizewell Weekends.

4246838182760936Captains Chris and Sue Govus, and First Mate Ben Wale, devised all sorts of seafaring challenges for our rowdy crew, which would send shivers up the timbers of any landlubber. They had to ‘Lob the Lobster’ with a dangerous looking catapult, and use their skill to work out ‘What’s the Catch?’

After lots of singing, hearty food and some messy games, Cabin Boy Will Leech sent the shipmates out on a wide game where they had to run the gauntlet of gunge, water balloons and water cannons.

Chris and Sue told the story of the Mutiny on the Bounty and how the Bible had saved the lives of some mutineers. Shipmates were then asked to think about the stories of Jesus set in the regions of Samaria, Perea and Judea, especially
  • The Parable of the Good Samaritan
  • the prejudice experienced by the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well;
  • the parables of the Lost Coin, Lost Sheep and Lost Son and
  • the challenge of facing temptations as we follow Jesus.

14167998620783The Prayer net was covered in prayers by the end of the weekend. It was amazing to see God’s forgiveness and joy at work in the children’s lives and how they had grown in confidence in their faith.

Parents arrived on Sunday after the shipmates had scrubbed the decks. When they had seen and heard about the great voyage of the Disciples of the Galilean, everyone bid farewell and sailed off into the sunset… until next year!
